Japanese Stab Bound Journal and Acrylic Paint Play Workshop

Upcoming dates:
This workshop is available on demand. Please contact me to arrange a suitable date.

£35 per person / Length of workshop 2.5 hours
Venue: My home workshop, just outside Stanley, County Durham

In this workshop we’ll create a hand bound journal using the Japanese Stab Binding technique.

We’ll begin the class by making our own papers for the covers using a really fun acrylic paint technique. It’s really effective and unpredictable, and creates wonderful abstract papers that work perfectly on a hand bound journal. You’ll have the opportunity to make several A4 papers using this technique, and any we don’t use on the class you can take home to use in other craft projects.

We’ll then make our covers from the acrylic papers, which are decorated on both the inside and out. We’ll add watercolour paper and Japanese simili paper to the inside of the journal and will bind it all together using the simple Japanese stab binding technique.

This workshop is suitable for beginners. All materials are provided, just bring yourself! As we’ll be using plenty of paint in this workshop, please either wear an apron or old clothes. Of course, hot drinks and light refreshments will be provided too.

The workshop is held in the workshop in my own home, just outside Stanley, County Durham. Please note: access to my home involves stairs.

There will be a maximum number of three people on the workshop, so you will receive plenty of individual attention and tuition.

This workshop is available on demand. To book your place or if you have any questions, please give me a call on 0191 645 9500 or email me through my contact form.
