This workshop is an introduction to drypoint printmaking, which is an intaglio printmaking method that involves scratching an image into a plate with a pointed tool. These scratched lines create a burr that holds ink, meaning that what you draw is what will print.
We will be using a plastic plate, which allows for easy drawing into the plate with a sharp tool. We will be printing up the plate using a Sizzix Plus machine, so if you have one of these machines at home and would like to learn a new technique to use it with, then this will be a great technique to try.
The finished look of the print can be altered by leaving areas of ink on the surface of the plate, making each print unique.
This is a great workshop for playing and experimentation.
Please bring along an image approximately 15cm x 20cm to work with. See the photos of what previous students have created for an idea of what kind of images work well.
The workshop takes place at my home workshop just outside Stanley, County Durham. It is a small workshop, so workshop classes are also small, which means you will receive plenty of individual attention. This workshop will need at least two people booked on it to go ahead.
Please note that my home workshop is accessed by stairs.
Hot drinks and cake will be served during the workshop, please let me know of any dietary requirements when you book.
