Finished Craft Project: Metal Embossed Keepsake Box
Last week I finished a metal embossed keepsake box project, and now that it has been received by the intended recipient, I can show it to you.
I used a balsa wood box for the base, which I painted in chalk paint, mixed with a little acrylic paint to get the shade I wanted.
The top of the box was covered in a metal embossed piece featuring one of my ivy vine designs. The design was drawn on to a sheet of copper and then embossed in my spare time over several evenings. Once the embossing was finished, I added an aging technique to the metal and then sealed it all with a coat of protective wax.
I’ll be teaching metal embossing workshops this year, starting with a metal embossed house number workshop. Why not come along and learn all about this wonderful technique?
