Found Poetry Play Session
This play session will be back next year. Sign up to my newsletter if you would like to be the first to hear about it.
Venue: My home workshop, just outside Stanley, County Durham
Found poetry is the art of taking a piece of text, and searching for a poem within. I have a short YouTube video about the technique, which will probably explain it best.
This is not a formal workshop, more of a chance to socialise with others in a creative environment and have fun playing with the materials and creating our own unique pieces of found poetry.
It is a really relaxing project and even if everyone starts with the same piece of text, everyone will come out with a different poem and will illustrate it in their own style, making each piece unique. The poems tend to be a reflection of yourself at the time of creating it.
Once we have found our piece of poetry within the page of text, we’ll use paints and collage to illustrate the poem directly on the page. I will provide you with the pages of text and materials to have a play, and I will be there for guidance.
Please note that my home workshop is accessed by stairs.
