Student showcase: Metal embossed house numbers

10 fabulous copper house numbers and name plaques made over the last two Thursdays by carers, organised by Newcastle Carers. Everyone was a complete beginner to metal embossing last week and just look at the fabulous work they created!

Last week I took everyone through the tools and materials and we worked on a small leaf design to get everyone used to the method and how the tools worked. Then we moved on to creating everyone’s designs, before making a start on the embossing.

This week everyone continued with the embossing process, before finishing off their pieces with an aging technique, and punching mounting holes in the plaques for those who wanted them.

It was a fabulous two weeks, I thoroughly enjoyed meeting and teaching everyone, and it was lovely to see some familiar faces from my previous workshops with Newcastle Carers. Thank you so much to the lovely Anita at Newcastle Carers for organising everything and looking after us all so well.

Well done everyone, amazing work, you should be so proud of what you have created!
