Studio blog: Inktober 2024 – week 1 round up
I am currently taking part in the annual Inktober challenge, where participants are encouraged to create a sketch using ink every day during October.
There are ‘official’ prompts given out by the organisers if you are stuck for ideas, but I have decided to go my own way and concentrate on what I would like to draw instead.
In the past I have usually worked on my Celtic knotwork for this challenge, but this year I am keeping it simple. I have an A6 size hand bound sketchbook that I made a while ago and I am creating small 6cm square sketches of things that have caught my eye that day in it. To keep it even simpler, I am breaking the sketches down into simple shapes and I am just sticking to creating something in 5 to 10 minutes.
The sketches so far have been a mix of those done at home or in the studio, or those done out ‘en plein air’ after I’ve taught a workshop.
I’ve really been enjoying the process, creating these bite sized pieces is really enjoyable. I’ll update on the blog each week to show what I’ve been up to.
