Student showcase: Lino printed journals
Shown above are two beautiful journals made by a couple on a private workshop in my studio yesterday. The workshop was booked as a birthday celebration.
We started off the day by going over the basics of lino printing and then they went to carve out their designs for both the cover of the sketchbook and the spine. The cover design was printed with traditional block printing ink on paper, and the spine design was printed with fabric lino printing ink on fabric.
Once these were ready, we created our sketchbooks from scratch, incorporating the hand stamped fabric into the spine, before adding the final touch of their main hand carved and printed lino motif.
It was a great day with lovely people and as you can see, they both went home with sketchbooks to treasure!
