Student showcase: introduction to lino printing workshop

 

From complete beginners to fabulous lino printers in just one day.

I had a great day teaching a mum and daughter how to carve and print lino in my studio today. They came for a private workshop to celebrate a birthday.

We started right from the very beginning, going over tools and materials, then on to creating a texture block, using different mark making techniques. We then moved on to creating simple white line lino prints and printed them up, mixing up various colours.

After lunch we moved on to creating a more detailed print each, which we printed up using gradients, two colour printing and finally chine collé.

They both did so well and have gone home with a wonderful selection of lino prints.
