Student Showcase: Junk Journal Workshop

I had a fun morning showing two lovely ladies how to recycle papers, cardboard packaging, wrapping paper and fabric from around their homes in to hand bound journals that are unique to them.

All three of us turned out to be keen knitters and crocheters too, so we had lots of good yarn chat, as well as some mathematical problems to play with, courtesy of the retired maths teacher. I do love the great conversations that can be had on workshops!

At the end of the workshop there were two beautiful journals created, ready for adding gesso (which I sent them home with), and journalling or drawing in.

It seems a misnomer to use the ‘Junk Journal’ term with these, they’re gorgeous!

Well done both of you, and thank you for a great morning!

I’ll be running this workshop again in the autumn term. If you would like to make your own unique journal before then, I’ll be running a three week workshop where you’ll create the spine and covers and will bind them together to make two journals. Find out more and book your place here.
