Student Showcase: six week lino printing course for beginners – week 1
This afternoon I began teaching a lino printing course for beginners for a community wellbeing project in Witton Gilbert. It will take place every Friday up until mid-December.
We started off by learning all about the tools and materials that we use, and carving out an abstract pattern to get used to the tools. Then we worked on carving a simple floral lino print. We then printed this up, again, I gave plenty of hints and tips on how to get the best print.
I really love everyone’s floral prints, and as always happens, each participant added their own touch to the basic design, and brought out a little of their personality in the print. Unfortunately I didn’t get a chance to photograph everyone’s prints, but here are a few for you to see.
Well done everyone, stunning first lino prints!
If you would like to learn the art of lino printing, then come and join me in my studio for an introduction to lino printing workshop.
