Student Showcase: Faux Marquetry Box workshop
In this week’s workshop I showed everyone how to take a blank, balsa wood box, and turn it in to a faux marquetry decorated box. I call it ‘faux’ marquetry, as the method is very different to traditional marquetry techniques, but I still think it produces a lovely effect.
It was definitely a relaxing and mindful craft, with everyone slowing down to make sure everything fitted in nicely into place. I love how everyone came up with their own take on the design. There were 8 participants in total, and we had a great afternoon.
I will be putting this workshop on again in the future, so be sure to sign up to my mailing list for details of when it will be on again.
