Student Showcase: Metal embossed coasters

I had a great one-to-one session in my workshop today, teaching the art of metal embossing, whilst make decorative coasters.

We started off by going over the tools and materials and working on a piece of scrap aluminium to get a feel for how the metal and tools worked. Then we moved on to making the coasters, adding in more techniques as we went.

The two coasters shown above were made by my student and aren’t they amazing? I love them!
