Today saw the last session of my three week journal making course, and what a lovely course it was!
In week 1 I taught basic lino carving and printing and we printed up the fabric for the spines of the books.
In week 2 I taught gelli printing and a fun acrylic paint technique and we made the decorative papers for the covers and inner end papers of the books.
Today saw us putting these elements together in order to hand bind the journals. Each journal has watercolour paper and Japanese simili paper in, so can be used with plenty of mediums. Each picture here shows the front and back inner and outer covers of each journal. We had lots of great conversations over the three weeks and it will seem very strange not to have anyone in my studio next weekend!
I’ll be putting this course on again next year, and as with all of my workshops, you can book me to deliver it for a private group at any time. Just get in touch for details. Wonderful work, enjoy using your journals!
