Student showcase: Open Art Group Consett collaborative quilt

From now until 25th April 2026, my community group, Open Art Group Consett, have their collaborative quilt on display at the Willows Café at Willow Burn Hospice in Lanchester.

Working with The Story, Durham, and textile artist Sarah Dodds, the group created a collaborative quilt based on the social history of Consett. Members worked on themes of daily life, household, entertainment, family, transport, hobbies and community. Members used a variety of techniques to create their pieces, including embroidery, applique, painting and cyanotype printing.

The group have also created lino printed bags, which are also on display in the café, and are all for sale in aid of the hospice.
