Student Showcase: six week lino printing course for beginners – week 2

Today was week 2 of a six week lino printing course for beginners for a community wellbeing project that I am teaching in Durham.

Last week we just used a U-blade to create our carvings. This week, we moved on to using both a U-blade and a V-blade to create finer detail. I also showed everyone how to create a gradient print.

Everyone started off with an outline of my oak leaf and acorn design, and interpreted it and the background in their own way.

We had a really busy group, with 10 participants, but it was so busy that unfortunately I only managed to get chance to photograph five of the designs. Hopefully I’ll get a chance to capture more designs next week.

Well done everyone, stunning lino prints!

If you would like to learn the art of lino printing, then please come and join me in my studio for an introduction to lino printing workshop.
